Why? Because the massive range of benefits that using CBD oil offers are finally being understood.
But not all CBD oils are made equal. We’re not going to tell you to just ‘buy our mighty fine CBD oils” because it’s the best. We’re going to give you some background information so you can decide for yourself!
Ready? You’re about to get the lowdown on how CBD oil works in the body. What it’s great for, and what to look out for if you’re new to CBD oils.
Firstly, What Is CBD?
Unfortunately – there’s gonna be some big words coming up. It’s kinda unavoidable but let’s be honest. We’re salt of an earth team here at Mighty CBD. So if we can get our little heads around all of this. We know you can too! 😉
If you do have any questions, give us a shout. We’ll clear it up for you as you need to know what you’re buying. Well back to that CBD info…
Popularly called cannabidiol. CBD is one of several compounds (or phytocannabinoid) of the cannabis plant. They are the natural chemicals that the plant uses to grow, metabolize and reproduce.
There have always been arguments over the relationship between CBD and marijuana too. But the fact is, hemp is not marijuana. And, unlike marijuana, hemp won’t get you ‘high.’
This is because of its regulated 0.2% THC content (or less).
CBD has been proven to be a healthier option than caffeine and obviously far healthier than nicotine but don’t get us started on that one!
While we’re on the subject though, we don’t want to bore you with the science, BUT we do want you to know the claims being made in the CBD oils market are valid.
As with anything health-related, there are always studies being conducted, and several studies and research in the UK and globally have highlighted the many benefits CBD offers.
Relevant Departments Information On CBD
Research performed by the National Center For Biotechnology Information and the National Institute of Health focussed on and revealed great results for:
- The effects of Cannabinoid for pain management
- Cannabidiol for potential anxiety disorder management
- Cannabidiol and blood pressure reduction
- The effects of Cannabinoid on epilepsy
So it’s not surprising that the CBD oil market has shot through the roof, not only in the UK but globally heading rapidly towards the billion-dollar threshold – not only that, but the market is now generally accepted by people from virtually all walks of life.
CBD Law – Is CBD Legal In The UK?
Simply put – CBD is legal in the United Kingdom provided it ticks the boxes that the big bosses say it has to.
In January 2016, the UK government declared CBD as a novel food so CBD is regarded as a food supplement and should be treated as such. (If you want to read more about the novel food regulation you can do so here) but what that means to normal peeps like you and me who don’t read legal literature for fun, is that it’s treated as a food, not a medicinal product.
UK law guiding the use of CBD stipulates that certain conditions must be met before a CBD product can be created for consumption.
- Firstly, CBD products cannot contain more than 1 mg of THC per container
- Secondly, CBD products can only be derived from EU-approved strains of industrial hemp, which contain no more than 0.2% of THC
- Lastly, CBD products must be produced by manufacturers who have successfully applied for novel foods authorization from the UK Food Standards Agency (FSA) by March 31, 2021.
The UK quality control measures apply to all CBD brands and their manufacturing processes. Unfortunately, most CBD brands fail to meet this requirement which is why you must always do your research and buy from a reliable brand.
Why Are UK Residents Turning To CBD Oil?
In the United Kingdom, CBD oil has caused a bit of a stir, so what’s all the fuss?
Customers have praised how CBD oil has helped with a plethora of different conditions – stress, anxiety, inflammation, pain, fitness, and lots more.
Unlike typical pharmaceutical products, CBD doesn’t need fancy ads to get attention. The growing number of positive experiences being shared on hemp-derived oil has meant that word of mouth has hugely spread the popularity of CBD oil.
It seems the UK is mad for some of the magic in CBD oils – reviews, testimonials, blogs, and news have attracted heaps of positive attention on the potency behind CBD.
How Does CBD Work?
To understand how CBD works, Firstly, it’s important to understand the Endocannabinoid System (ECS).
ECS are unique cell receptors located in core areas of the body, such as the brain, nervous system, and immune system. The Endocannabinoid system helps balance the body and maintain good health. CBD comes through to enhance the ECS function and provide soothing relief to the body. We’ll be going into more detail on that one in future articles as this is where the magic happens!
What To Look In A Best CBD Oil In The UK?
There are so many options available to you, it can be tricky to know where to start. Here are a few things to consider before buying…
Uses Superficial CO2 For Extraction
The best CBD oils use the superficial CO2 extraction process, which keeps them safe from the typical residue or additives associated with other extraction processes. Avoid CBD brands that use chemicals like Hexane, Propane, or Butane as these contain harmful contaminants.
Naturally Sourced Hemp
Make sure you choose a brand that sources hemp from local government-tested and approved farms as these are tested and confirmed to be free from toxic substances.
Avoid brands with no valid proof of lab test reports on their products as their CBD oils could contain harmful chemicals such as pesticides, fungus, or bacteria.
Not to be confused with cheap. You get what you pay for right? If it’s too cheap or if the price looks too good to be true, it usually is. This is a huge red flag as some of these cheaper CBD oils may not even contain CBD.
We’re not suggesting using the most expensive CBD oil, there are plenty of high-quality oils at a reasonable price. Just sayin’…
Clarified CBD Amount
Highly reputed brands will indicate on their labels, how much CBD to expect. Check for the exact number of milligrams. An effective CBD oil contains anywhere between 250-1000mg per 10ml.
Anything less is a waste of money.
Full-Spectrum (Not CBD Isolates)
Full-spectrum, extracted from the whole plant CBD, has better quality than the CBD isolate. That’s because CBD isolates are made from low-quality materials.
With plant products, it’s often the synergy of the compounds which gives the results, not isolating individual components. We covered before that CBD is the active part of the plant responsible for growth, reproduction, AND metabolism. That’s a pretty hefty role with some real potential bundled into how it works. Take just a part of that, and it’s a bit like Batman being without Robin – he’d like to think he’s awesome but they’re far more mighty as a team!

A 0.2% THC content won’t get you high. With our CBD Oils, all of our THC is non-psychoactive. You must always check the label to know what THC content you’ll be getting with any CBD oil you’re looking to buy or use.
