For years, people have been resorting to taking strong medication to control inflammation and pain that comes with the disease. Sometimes having to cope with unpleasant side effects for that temporary relief.
The likelihood of being prescribed medical cannabis to help is very low given that it is so heavily regulated. But as CBD oil is both legal and much easier to acquire. It’s starting to get noticed.
If this sounds familiar. You’ll probably be wanting to know how CBD oil is helping patients with Crohn’s disease. Read on to find out!
Where Does Crohn’s Come From?
Nobody knows where Crohn’s develops in people. However, there are a few factors that come into play.
Some people are born with it. Sometimes it develops as people age. Research shows that it can more commonly occur for people who:
- Are aged between 20 and 29.
- Have a family member with IBD, typically a parent or sibling.
- Regularly smoke cigarettes.
Regardless of how or when it shows up. Crohn’s is no walk in the park. The effects of it are often extreme. Resulting in malnutrition, over-growing gut bacteria, and painful ulcers.
CBD Oil Can Reduce The Symptoms Of Crohn’s
The good news is that CBD Oil has been ranking in the health industry because of its anti-inflammatory effects.
It does this by interacting with the endocannabinoid system (ECS). Acting as a kind of counter-balance to bringing your body back into harmonious function.
Just for a quick biology lesson. The ECS has a pretty hefty job. So it’s crazy that so many of us have never heard of it. Its role is to regulate and balance many processes including metabolism and appetite, memory, communication between cells, and yep, you probably guessed it, immune response.
What Study Shows…
In one study conducted by Dr. Timna Naftali. A specialist in gastroenterology at Meir Hospital and Kupat Holim Clinic in Tel Aviv, Israel. Get the research that put CBD oil on trial with a group of people who were experiencing moderately severe Crohn’s disease.
They recruited 46 people with some being given a sugar tablet placebo, and others being given cannabis oil.
The severity of symptoms and the quality of the participant’s life were measured before, during, and after their trial CBD oil treatment of Crohn’s. Endoscopic scoring was used to measure gut inflammation and markers of inflammation were also checked in blood and stool samples.
After two months, the patients who were given CBD oil reported a significant improvement to their Crohn’s disease symptoms and overall quality of life. A majority of them were able to meet the strict medical criteria of being in remission.
Only a small number of the placebo group reported any changes. Admittedly this was only a tiny trial but there are many more trials still going on with remarkable outcomes. The clinical response to the benefits felt by the cannabis oil group compared with the placebo group, over not many weeks of treatment, was definitely significant enough to justify further trials.
Can CBD Oil Cure Crohn’s?
As studies like the one above show, Cannabis can undoubtedly improve the symptoms for people living with Crohn’s disease. But it’s not a cure.
People have been using Cannabis for over 3000 years to help aid a variety of health problems. But unfortunately, scientists still haven’t found a cure for Crohn’s disease.
The only way to tackle the disease is to reduce symptoms. It’s easy to get totally lost with so many medications on the market!
If you want to avoid the side-effects of prescribed medications though, you can. More people are finding CBD oil and other natural remedies produce more benefits and yield lower side-effects.
Whilst the cure for Crohn’s is still a long way off. if you can improve the symptoms until you’re experiencing a state of remission. That’s a whole lot easier to cope with and that’s where CBD oil could help.
What Are The Complications of Crohn’s disease?

Symptoms of Crohn’s disease are very similar to those of ulcerative colitis. Including bloody diarrhea, high fevers, and extreme abdominal pain to name a few. Over time Crohn’s can cause severe complications if left untreated. Because of this, some people have to have surgery.
If left unmonitored, Crohn’s can cause…

How To Use CBD Oil For Crohn’s Disease?
After you’ve talked with your doctor or healthcare provider and bought your CBD oil. It’s time to get started!
There are many ways you can consume CBD oil but we recommend two things. Firstly, don’t meddle with the oil. Secondly, start slowly.
What do we mean by don’t meddle with it? We’ll be honest, the flavor is strange to some people at first. Some say it has quite a bitter flavor. You do get used to it, but some people add it to food to mask the flavor.
Crohn’s is sometimes affected by food. It makes sense to try the oil on its own first – that way. If for any reason it doesn’t agree with you or your medication. You only have one factor to work out. It would be a shame to stop taking the oil if it was actually the food combo that was the problem!
In terms of how to start your dosage, as we said, begin with low doses…
- Start with a CBD-only product (like this one).
- Start on 5 – 10mg twice daily, and then slowly increase, going up to the dose of 50 – 100mg per day.
- Use only at night at first, then gradually increase the amount if needed.
- Record your first few weeks of taking CBD to understand if it’s working.
Techniques like journaling can also help you with this. It may not be only physical symptom relief you notice improvements with. Remember how mighty the ECS is – hormones, metabolism, diet, cell communication. Your body is going to get a much better manager so making a note of all of this will eliminate any guesswork.
Many people with Crohn’s have reported that they have experienced relief in their symptoms within the first few days of taking CBD oil. This is largely due to how quickly the natural anti-inflammatory properties of the oil can start to work with the ECS in your body.
An enhanced sense of well-being, as well as relief of physical symptoms, is highly likely. People have also managed to avoid the side effects of long-term prescribed antibiotics and medicines, or over-the-counter remedies too.
We’ll never make any promises as every single body is different, but what we do know is we’re seeing more and more people have success in managing the symptoms of Crohn’s disease with CBD oil. Take a look here at our premium quality Mighty-CBD oil if this is something you’d like to explore too.
